Lichens

I was walking towards the bus stop when I came across a tree full of lichens. It attracted my attention because of the yellow color. I usually see lichens that are grayish or white like most fungus are. I learned that lichens are not parasites. They do not consumed the plants or tree that they hang on to. They are like epiphytes that gather nutrients and moisture from the air. Lichens are organisms that grow in spaces where normal plants would not grow. So if you happen to hike along a forest trail you will find an enormous array of this seemed non-significant living plants in a whole new perspective. They have a subtle beauty of its own.
