Swiss Chard


I am having hard time growing lettuce this summer. I tried oakleaf lettuce and other varieties but they tend to bolt so fast I didn’t have a chance to gather before they turn bitter. So I opted to plant Swiss Chard instead. As you can see in the picture I have plenty. I decided to plant the variety called “Bright Lights”. I guess, I want to see how colorful they would turn out in the garden bed. They really are spectacular to look at, mouth-watering too. They are performing well so far together with the Toscano Kale, I have both of the most nutritious greens and I have a good time cooking them. I like stir frying the Kale together with broccoli and snow peas and for the Swiss chard I use it like bok choy in my beef soup. It’s really good and good for you.
